Young Women Leading Change Innovation Challenge
On January 25th 2025: The United Team Sierra Leone (U Team SL) formerly known as United Team of Pujehun District, commonly known as the UN Team Pujehun has offered free legal advice service in Pujehun district. The U Team SL Lawyers have teamed up with local authorities to provide free legal advice service for victims (survivors) of rape, teenage pregnancy and serious sexual offences across Pujehun district.

Mohamed Kallon, a member of the U Team SL made this pronouncement during the official launch of their teenage pregnancy campaign in Pujehun district; hosted in Zimmi town, Makpele chiefdom. With support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MoYA), through the Young Women Leading Change Innovation Challenge, with the goal to End Teenage Pregnancy in the district. With the theme “Girls Too Challenge”: Abolish Teenage Pregnancy and Create Safe Spaces for Girls. Kallon further stated that, their additional support to this project as an indigenous development organization, is to help provide free legal service that would run starting from February 2025, and would provide help for victims in the district.

On the same development, Abdulai Jabaty Kanneh (Esq) representing the Committee on Gender, Children, Advocacy and Legal Affairs of the UN Team Pujehun reaffirmed that, the offer would “better support victims of crime in the areas of rape, teenage pregnancy and serious sexual offences in the district”.

Steps To Follow By The Free Legal Advice Service
Barrister Kanneh confirmed that, the legal affairs of their organization will follow all necessary steps, in order to ensure this offer meets the due process of the law, ahead of the stipulated time and space. The process will consist of five full-time lawyers, accompanied by the necessary support for their organization. He stated.
