United Team Sierra Leone – U Team SL’s mission featured strategic stakeholder engagement, partnership building, and regional development collaboration across the Mano River Union and ECOWAS sub-region

The United Team Sierra Leone (U Team SL) delegation recently paid a courtesy visit to the residence of former Vice President of Liberia, Jewel Howard-Taylor, to extend their condolences on the passing of her son, Charles Philip Taylor, Jr. The visit, which took place on February 14, 2026, was part of the delegation’s diplomatic mission to Monrovia, Liberia.

Charles Philip Taylor, Jr. passed away on January 20, 2026, at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia. He was the son of former President Charles Ghankay Taylor and former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor.

The U Team SL delegation’s visit was a gesture of solidarity and support during this difficult time. The delegation took the opportunity to express their sympathies to former Vice President Howard-Taylor and her family.

The former Vice President Howard-Taylor on behalf of her family wholeheartedly accepted the condolence visit, and commended the U Team SL for their strong thoughts. Being a strong women’s champion and girls empowerment leader, the former Vice President Howard-Taylor commended the U Team SL for entrusting female leadership in their organization through the head of delegation, Watta Koroma.

The U Team SL delegation is in Monrovia, Liberia, to strengthen regional cooperation and partnership with institutions and individuals in the sub-region.
During their four-day visit, they have held meetings with many individuals and institutions including the Ambassador and Deputy Ambassador of Sierra Leone Embassy in Liberia, ECOWAS Head of Delegation/ Liberia Parliament, ECOWAS Resident Representative in Monrovia, Liberia, the Secretary General of the Roberts Flight Information Region (RFIR), Resident Representative and Coordinator of the Manor River Union (MRU) in Monrovia, Liberia, the Minister Designate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Liberia, to name many but a few, discussing ways to enhance collaboration and promote regional development.

The delegation’s visit to former Vice President Howard-Taylor underscores U Team SL’s commitment to building relationships and fostering cooperation in the sub-region in line with their motto “We Are Stronger Together”.
