U Team SL Signs Sub-Grant Agreement With AID-SL Under EU-Funded INSPIRE Programme
The United Team Sierra Leone – U Team SL today, August 29, 2026 formally signed a sub-grant award agreement with the Agency for Integrated Development – SL under the INSPIRE Programme, co-funded by the European Union European Union in Sierra Leone, following the successful evaluation of the organization’s proposal titled “Inclusive Networks Supporting Peaceful Information and Responsible Engagement (INSPIRE)”.
The sub-grant was awarded by AID-SL, acting as the implementing partner of the INSPIRE Project co-funded by the European Union, with U Team SL serving as the Sub-Grantee responsible for implementation in Pujehun District.
The grant supports U Team SL to implement activities that strengthen youth leadership, promote responsible information ecosystems, advance gender equality, and enhance community-driven peacebuilding in Pujehun District.
The Sub-Grant Agreement signing and the Grant Opening Workshop were held today in Kenema, marking a major milestone for U Team SL’s work on peacebuilding, civic engagement, and responsible information sharing across Sierra Leone.
Representing U Team SL at the event were: Koroma Watta, Zainab J Massaquoi, and Sulaiman Fofanah. The team joined other grantees, partners, and stakeholders to honor the agreement and begin implementation activities under the programme.
The broader, long-term change to which this project contributes is the creation of a peaceful, inclusive, and resilient Pujehun District where youth, women, and communities actively participate in governance, development, and conflict prevention.
The impact will extend beyond the immediate interventions, contributing to Sierra Leone’s national priorities of consolidating peace, reducing inequality, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speaking after the signing, the U Team SL Head of Delegation, Miss Watta Koroma, expressed appreciation to AID-SL and the European Union for the trust and support. “This award will enable U Team SL to deepen our work with communities and ensure that information serves peace, not division,” Miss Koroma stated.
On behalf of U Team SL, Miss Koroma extended gratitude to all partners, volunteers, and community members whose support made this achievement possible, and pledged full commitment to implementing the project and utilizing the funds toward their intended purpose to enhance effectiveness in project objectives and partnership expectations.
AID-SL Executive Director, Mr. Alfred Amadu Gbonda Esq., highlighted the importance of the grants as an investment in local organisations and community-led development. He encouraged grantees to utilize the funds for its purpose and increase local ownership and participation.
The Grant Opening Workshop also provided an opportunity for grantees to align on programme objectives, reporting requirements, and collaboration frameworks for the months ahead.
